Meet our Trustees and Management Team

Keith Lawson-West (Trustee)

Keith recently retired early from his law firm to devote more time to both church and homelessness issues. His involvement with homelessness dates back 25 years initially working in Christmas shelters and then as part of The Salvation Army's soup run.  Keith is also Chairman of The Bridge, a charity that focuses on the needs of rough sleepers.

Steve Malcherczyk (Vice Chair)

Steve has worked within the addiction field for the past 25 years.  His first appointment on moving to Leicester was as a Senior Project Manager at a residential project for drinkers.   He currently works at the NHS Community Drug and Alcohol Service.  Steve also has a lectureship at Leicester Medical School, where he teaches Medical Ethics and Medical Law.

Roy Roberts (Trustee)

 

Roy has worked in local government for over 20 years where he has undertaken a number of roles from spear heading major research to developing local government policy in a range of areas such as night-time economy, new arrivals, political structures and governance, and community strategies. He currently leads on the Leicester Compact with the VCS. He has been a trustee of Action Homeless for nearly 15 years. Throughout his experience of local government and community work, Roy has maintained a strong commitment to equality and diversity. He also sits on the National Space Centre Education Award Scheme panel.

Tammy Bolton (Human Resources Manager)

 

Tammy has been working for Action Homeless for the past 15 years, starting off her career with the charity as a Purchase Ledger Clerk and Finance Officer before completing her Certificate in Personnel Practice and taking up the role of Human Resources Manager in 2005. Tammy is in charge of all aspects of personnel management at Action Homeless.  

Mandy Cochrane (Supported Housing Manager)

 

Before joining Action Homeless in 2003, Mandy worked for 13 years as a Prison Officer at Holloway Prison.  During this time she was instrumental in setting up the country’s first drug and alcohol treatment programme in England and Wales for female offenders.  Mandy is currently manager of Mayfield House – the charity’s major crisis and referral centre for homeless men.

Jonathan Cryer (Senior Fundraiser)

Jonathan started work at Action Homeless in September 2009 and is responsible for leading the growth in the charity's fundraising work. Jonathan joined Action Homeless from the Church Urban Fund where he was National Churches Engagement Manager. He has also worked as the Diocesan Secretary for both Durham (1998-2004) and Leicester (1989-1998).  Jonathan is a member of the Institute of Fundraising.    

Lin Hay (Finance Officer)

 

Lin has worked for Action Homeless for the past 5 years having joined the charity after a successful career in management accountancy within the manufacturing industry.  She has a Diploma in Payroll Management and is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians.  Lin is one of 2 Finance Officers at Action Homeless who jointly manage the charity’s financial systems and accounts. 

Fiona Parkhouse (Project Leader - Evesham House)

Fiona joined Action Homeless in 2004 with a background in youth offending and supporting young people with challenging behaviours.  Since joining our team, Fiona has worked with a wide range of different client groups including teenage parents and single homeless men.  She has also helped to establish a homelessness preventive education initiative in schools in Leicestershire.  Fiona is Project Leader at Evesham House - Action Homeless' newest specialist alcohol project which is run in partnership with Leicester City Council.

 

Rob Parkinson (Chief Executive)

 

Since graduating from university with a degree in Politics, Rob has developed a career in voluntary sector management and administration.  He was Head of Policy, Research and Information for MHA Care Group before taking up the roles of Director-England and then Deputy Director of UK Services with the National Deaf Children’s Society.  Rob joined Action Homeless in August 2008 and leads the day-to-day running of the charity.

Ange Potts (Senior Supported Housing Manager)

 

Ange has over 15 years’ experience of working with homelessness issues in Leicester.  She joined Action Homeless in 1993 having previously been a member of the Women’s Royal Army Corps. Ange has budget and line management responsibility for a range of supported housing projects at Action Homeless.

Georgie Pritchard (Finance Officer)

 

Georgie has worked for Action Homeless for the past 25 years having previously been a purchase ledger controller and accountant within the retail and engineering sectors.  She is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians.  Georgie is one of 2 Finance Officers at Action Homeless who jointly manage the charity’s financial systems and accounts.

Karen Purewal (Director of Operations)

 

Karen has over 15 years’ experience of working with homeless people in Leicester. She started working for Action Homeless in 2007 having previously managed supported housing services for Leicester City Council.  Karen played an important role in the development and initial management of the Dawn Centre, Leicester’s flag ship multi-disciplinary homeless centre.  Karen has overall lead of the operations division at Action Homeless.

Tricia Wright (Senior Supported Housing Manager)

 

Tricia’s involvement with homelessness issues started in 1998 when she began working as a volunteer at Leicester’s night shelter.
