Capital funding boost to aid Veteran’s homelessness

We’re thrilled to announce that we have received a second, supplementary grant from The Armed Forces Covenant Trust, thanks to the Office for Veterans’ Affairs’ Veterans’ Capital Housing Fund. The additional funding will enable us to offer support to more Veterans who are experiencing homelessness in Leicester.

Action Homeless will open a new home, specifically for Veterans affected by homelessness, in Spring 2026. The capital funding will enable a complete renovation of a property owned by the charity. The refurbishment will create 6 new living spaces for Veterans, all with en-suite bathrooms. The project will also offer a large kitchen diner, lounge area and landscaped garden.

The home will provide Veterans with a safe and stable base from which they can begin the process of rebuilding their lives. They’ll also receive help to find a permanent home and to build connections in the community.

Work is due to begin on site in early November.

As part of Action Homeless’ wider commitment to the armed forces community, we have today signed The Armed Forces Covenant which details our pledge to recognising those who have performed military duty and the value of their contribution. Read our pledge here.
