SOPHIE*

Safe and secure accommodation providing a foundation for positive change

Sophie became homeless after being kicked out of the place she was staying, and had no immediate safe place to go.

She had very limited resources to support herself, and was isolated from friends and family in an area far away from anywhere she could seek help and support.

This experience was very disruptive for her. Her father was based in Leicester, and after being concerned for her welfare and safety, he suggested that she relocate to be closer to support.

Unfortunately, Sophie was unable to live with her father, and so sought help from the team at Action Homeless. Her personal needs were assessed and she was assigned a support worker and accommodation in one of our A+ properties. Our A+ clients have their own tenancies, but are still able to have regular check-ins with their support worker and gain help and support as and when they need it to maintain their own home.

Sophie felt safe and secure in her new accommodation. She had her own room and was given the personalised support she needed, and access to essentials such as bedding and food, including information about local food banks and our own Emergency Food Pantry if needed.

Her support worker continues to help her when needed, and Sophie feels a sense of achievement now that she has her own space. She has a positive attitude towards the future, and is hoping to get part time work.

Her father continues to be supportive, and Sophie is working towards being both more independent and staying connected to family and support in her local community.
