Landmark Gig raises £376.30 for Action Homeless
Christopher Marks or ‘Spanky Van Dyke’ raised funds during his 150th Gig
Christopher Marks, a local Leicestershire musician often known by his stage persona Spanky Van Dyke, has raised £376.30 for Action Homeless after collecting donations at his landmark 150th gig.
The show took place on Thursday 30th May at the Tap & Barrel in Wigston and those attending were treated to a nostalgic mix of 70’s and 80’s covers and free pizza! When asked about why he chose to raise money for Action Homeless, Marks said:
“I found myself homeless some years ago and there was no real support offered. I am one of the lucky ones that has re-built my life but that does not happen for everyone and there are more people homeless now too, creating a bigger social issue with limited resources. Action Homeless are a local charity I just wanted to give something back. There is no better way to do it than doing something I love (entertaining) and giving people a good night, whilst raising money”
Action Homeless would like to thank Christopher for choosing to support Action Homeless and all those who attended the show and generously donated.
Action Homeless is a Leicester based charity concerned with tackling the causes and consequences of homelessness in the city and county. We guarantee that 100% of the money you raise for Action Homeless is spent directly on supporting people affected by homelessness in Leicester and Leicestershire.
