Landlord Appeal – Provide a Home for People Without One
Action Homeless is interested in speaking to landlords in Leicester with properties available to rent.
The charity has received funding from the ‘In This Together’ programme set up by national homelessness charity Crisis to run a four-month project that will provide intensive resettlement support for homeless people in Leicester.
We have identified 70 people who have been placed in temporary accommodation, such as hotels and short-lets, because of the COVID-19 lock down. However, without some where permanent to move to these people are at risk of being on the street once the lockdown is lifted.
As a result, we are appealing for landlords with vacant rental properties to help meet the increasing need for safe and secure housing in Leicester.
Action Homeless houses 203 people each night and has over 40 years of experience working with people experiencing homelessness. The charity manages over 50 properties, a large number for local landlords and housing associations.
An example of our work is the property we have been managing in the Clarendon Park area for over seven years. Action Homeless helped refurbish before moving tenants in. The same group of people have been living in the house since, and the landlord has recently renewed their agreement with the charity.
We offer a range of options on our leases with private landlords from helping to refurbish the house to make it fit for purpose, to offering full maintenance and management of properties with guaranteed rental income for the property owner.
